Who am I:
I grew up in the heart of Yorkshire with dreams of soaring through the skies as an RAF pilot. That ambition was grounded by my teenage myopia—but it sparked a lifelong curiosity about vision and the intricacies of the human eye. I began my academic journey at Liverpool University, specialising in binocular vision and visual development, before completing a second degree in Optometry at City University, London. My clinical path has taken me through laser correction (LASIK), complex visual assessments, and now into the vibrant world of independent practice. With over 20 years of experience, I’ve built a career rooted in precision, empathy, and continuous learning.
Why the world of optics:
What began as a personal limitation became a professional passion. I was fascinated by how something as small as a lens could transform perception and quality of life. Optics offered me a way to combine science, precision, and empathy—helping people see the world more clearly, while understanding their unique visual needs.
What I like best about optics:
It’s the blend of human connection and technical mastery. Whether I’m guiding a patient through LASIK options or decoding a complex binocular vision case, I love the challenge of tailoring solutions to each individual. There’s something deeply rewarding about restoring clarity—not just in sight, but in confidence and lifestyle.
What catches my eye:
Working at Iconic, allows me to bring my full self to the clinic. I value the freedom to innovate, the time to connect with patients, and the collaborative spirit of a team that truly cares. I moved to Plymouth to be closer to the sea and embrace a coastal lifestyle—where beach walks, paddleboarding, sailing, and fishing are part of my rhythm. It’s a place that mirrors my professional ethos: calm, focused, and full of possibility.
